a couple of music biography book purchases - the thirty three and a third series of books each take a seminal album and dissects and analyses it in fanatical detail - a shame one of throbbing gristle’s blandest recordings selected but, skimming thru, it looks a fascinating read nevertheless - littered with interviews and fun facts - the crass book a similar automatic purchase - i imagined something flimsy, padded with regurgitated info, but in fact it looks another in-depth and insightful read
both these bands far greater and represented far more than their actual recorded output - almost to the extent of not actually necessarily being a fan of their music to be fans of the band (as is the case with crass and me) - the sex pistols and whitehouse, to a slightly (or arguably) lesser degree, could also be added to this little list of subversives masquerading as musicians - kinda sad that in the thirty years since, no other band has appeared possessing an equivalent revolutionary spirit - perhaps it’s just my generation (and nationality) and younger americans will be proclaiming marilyn manson and crystal fucking castles?!…..
